Haringey Has Pride
I was really glad to have been a part of organising a day event for Pride in Haringey called Haringey has Pride with Ben Price, the creative heritage manager at Jackson’s Lane. It was a joyful moment to have so many different organisations and individuals in the room who do incredible work for LGBTQ+ advocacy, visibility, and organising, in a part of London where homophobia is a common occurrence experienced by many. Artists and activists held workshops, talks, discussions, stalls, and performances all in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. It was very special to see people come into that space who expressed not being overly familiar with the queer community, and then get involved, ask questions, hear stories of advocacy and struggle, and join in with drag performances.
