Peace Dinner
Peace One Day is a charity which has negotiated for ceasefires, truces, and opportunities for amnesty across the globe, building on it’s reach year-on-year since 1999. Unlike many international charities Peace One Day does not ask for money, but instead for each individual or group to engage peace through the day of September 21st, and for anyone who would like to get involved, to hold a moment for joy and celebrations with community. To mark Peace Day I joined with Cafe Art and cultural organisation Creative Thinking who were launching an interactive lights display in Page Green Common, to invite the community to watch the display, opened with a performance by dancer Paaliba Abugre, and then share dinner together. Unfortunately we had some technical issues with sound and the performance element had to be cancelled, but it was a beautiful moment to share food together and celebrate Peace Day.
