Myth
Our understanding of the world around us is built by creating, telling, and re-telling narratives. The stories we tell and hold as our own determine who we understand ourselves to be, how we influence one another, what decisions we make, what develops in our cultures, and thereby what happens in the world around us, and the cycle continues with story and world eternally reflecting one another. It stands to reason then, that by becoming more aware of this symbiotic relationship between our stories and our worlds, we can chose to make changes to our stories and in doing so change our worlds.
With this perspective I take joy in learning who I am by researching ancient and current myths with a decolonial eye, seeing what worlds they show me, and then seeing what new worlds might emerge from my own tongue.
These new worlds and myths come in stories, poetry, and song, which I love to share as workshops, performance, or in circle, as part of residencies, or one-off events. If you have an event or space you’d like to bring my myth making to I’d love to hear from you: ogechispacetime@protonmail.com
